Portfolio > Reverse Shot

The Hollywood Sign is the international symbol of Los Angeles, and an immediate allusion to its status as the entertainment capitol of the world. Unique among national monuments in its seeming existence as pure signifier, the Sign is more text than edifice. My Reverse Shot photographs use cropping to call attention to the Sign’s architectural nature, and point of view to suggest a “behind the scenes” examination of the Hollywood-fed myth of fame and fortune that looms over the city. The title makes use of the “shot/reverse shot” cinematographic convention, while also referring to the unusual perspective found in the photographs.
